Yoga for Every Body

In my practice and teaching of yoga, I believe it is important for yoga to be accessible to every person who wants to learn and practice it. The yoga we predominantly see on social media is yoga for thin, white, cisgender, heterosexual women with class privilege. I'm happy that these folks have found joy and benefit in practicing yoga, and I also acknowledge that there aren't many spaces for people to practice yoga who are disabled, fat, transgender, queer, Black, brown, poor, older, or marginalized in other ways. It's important to recognize that yoga is not a fitness routine or just a way to get followers on social media. Yoga should be safe and accessible for all bodies and identities, and making it this way is my primary goal in teaching yoga. It's an incredibly powerful way for us to learn radical self-love and practice taking care of our bodies, minds, and souls.
